Saturday the 10th June saw the 10th Birthday Party of Edinburgh's Alien Rock.

Since taking the keys to their initial site at Pier Place, Ruben Welch, Steve Irvine and Malcolm Davies have steadily propelled their Alien Empire into hyperspace. Well maybe not hyperspace, but yearly expansion of the climbing surfaces in the original building and eventually a dedicated bouldering wall at West Bowling Green Rd has kept their vitality in people minds.

Despite fears over falling visitors numbers when the Ratho Adventure Centre opened last year Alien Rock has suffered little. In fact the by-product of increased interested in climbing through Ratho can only help Alien Rocks future, its city location being favourable for those who rely on public transport or just those who just fancy a quick climb.

So to celebrate the 10th anniversary Alien Rock threw a party at their Alien 2 facility. Barbeque and Beers were enjoyed by many. The requirement of Bad Taste fancy dress was heralded by a few to out their weekend cross dressing habits. Others took it upon them self to perform double act bizarre as well as playing a cast member from any particular film genre. Edinburgh's charity shops seen their best business of the year!

The collection arranged by centre manager Paul Neuman on behalf of ScottishClimbs.com raised a whooping 100 pounds. ScottishClimbs would like to thank Paul for arranging this and all who contributed on Saturday evening. Those with and without fancy dress made a contribution so... BIG Thanks to All Who Attended.

The cash raised will be ploughed back into ScottishClimbs server rental for the next year which is the only overhead we require to be covered. All development, administration and contributions to ScottishClimbs take no-profits making the site a completely open content development, as it has been for the past three years and will continue to be.
