Laddering

Moving up the board with each alternating hands on each rung.

  • 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9
  • 1-3-5-7-9
  • 1-4-7-9
  • 1-5-9

Touches

Bringing on hand up from the first rung to a higher rung, then back down to the first. Also known as "lock-offs".

  • 1-2-1
  • 1-3-1
  • 1-4-1
  • 1-5-1

Lock-off twists

Start with one hand on rung 1, and the other on rung 2. The lower hand moves from rung 1 to 4, then back.

  • 1,2-4,2-1,2
  • 1,2-3,2-1,2
  • 1,2-5,2-1,2

Depth Snatches

Based on an exercise for sprinters called a depth jump. Both hands start on one rung, then both drop to catch a lower rung, followed by an immediate move of both hands back to initial rung.

  • 2-1-2
  • 3-1-3

Doubles

Moving between rungs with both hands at the same time, usually going up two rungs, then dropping one.

  • 1-4-6-8-9
  • 1-3-2-4-3-5-4-6-5-7-6-8-7-9
