Mike Tweedly pulling onto the headwall of Dalriada E7 6b, The Cobbler, Arrochar. (Dave Redpath).

Mike Tweedley and Dave Redpath have been taking advantage of the fine weather across Argyll of late to repeat the exposed and atmospheric Dalriada E7 6b. They both climbed the route headpoint style over three days, the first of which involved an atmospheric session in a gale force wind. On June 1st both tied onto the sharp end to lead it. Tweedley had a minor wobble on the top howling as he nearly pumped off the head wall. Redpath made a hash of the initial arete nearly pumping off and dropping a crucial cam. His composure was regained on the steeper ground to finish the route. Who says headpointing is easy.

These are perhaps the 5th-6th ascents (alongside Latter, Macleod, Birkett, McNair) of this Cobbler test piece that to date has not been onsighted.
