Glen Gyle is at the north-west end of Loch Katrine.

Directions & Approach

From Stronachlachar it takes about 45 minutes to walk to the head of the loch. A bike would reduce the approach time considerably; the road around the far side of Loch Katrine to/from The Trossachs is a popular cycle ride. Just past the house up on the left (The Dhu) a track goes up the glen, intially on the left but soon crossing over Glengyle Water and continuing on the right side of the glen.











Climbing

About 100 metres after crossing the bridge there is a gate across the track. From here a heather hat boulder can be seen about 200 metres up the hill to the right, beside the burn. The rock is good, as is the landing (though it slopes a bit), and the boulder is about 5 metres high. It is well featured, and has some strong lines on the front face. These are described below.
