The Friends of Nevis charity has funded a couple of projects directed at Glen Nevis. The first was to produce a series of Podcast covering walks in Glen Nevis. These were produced by Rarebreed Productions (aka. Claire and Dave MacLeod). The Podcasts aren't aimed at climbing directly but cover the landscape and history of the Glen with interviews with local experts.

Dave is releasing these episodes over the next few weeks:

Episode 1

Episode 2

The second project was to create a smartphone app for Glen Nevis. This again covers eight walks in the glen with listings of over seventy points of interest (with photography and Gaelic pronunciations) covering archaeology, geology, culture and wildlife. All information is available offline since little or no mobile signal is available in the glen. Each walk has a route description and marked map produced by Harvey Maps. GPS notifications are available to navigate to the nearest point of interest or receive notifications along your chosen walk. The My Glen Nevis feature allows you to geotag photos taken during your visit for later social sharing on Facebook, etc once your back in signal range. It's currently available from Android Market. It may well come to other platforms over the next year.
