Routes Which are Quite Good (ie. the best of the best)

This is intended as a simple guide to the better climbs on the stretch of coastline from Cove Bay to Clashrodney . It will hopefully be of some use to visiting climbers or people who are new to the area. More definitve information can be found in the SMC North East Outcrops guide.

(An important note for all visiting climbers: To get the most out of the climbing on these cliffs, climb in the morning with the sun shining onto the walls, many routes are greasy in the evenings)

Red Hole, South Cove:

Orbital Ejection 50m E3 5c***
A real adventure! Three pitches through some amazing ground, the climbing is fantastically exposed and the crux feels really "out there".

Clashrodney:

Birthday Treat 20m E1 5a***
Steep satisfying moves lead up to a resting ledge, step up and left off this in a great position and climb the steepening concave wall. A must do route on the Aberdeen coast.
