GUY ROBERTSON – Blood, Sweat and Frozen Tears Thursday 24th September

“Guy has been climbing since he was 19, when a friend took him up a snow filled but unfrozen gully with a walking axe and some bendy crampons. Most of his early exploits revolved around spending long weekends holed up in the Cairngorms, usually either failing on easy routes or getting lost in a blizzard. Fortunately, he survived these formative years, and has since become a well known and respected Scottish winter pioneer. As well as putting up a steady stream of characteristically long, hard and remote winter routes, Guy’s obsession with adventure has seen him pioneering difficult climbs as far apart as Arctic Norway, Peru, Morocco and the Greater Himalaya. On this occasion however, he’ll be talking about his most enduring passion – unexplored Scottish mixed lines.”
