Hammerhead Rock
From ScottishClimbs
The jumbled rocks and terraces between Atlantic Avenue and Gob a'Chuaille never really live up to their potential and offer up a decent crag. Hammerhead Rock is the most obvious candidate and gives a few steep routes on good rock.
Directions & Approach
Grid Ref: NG 838 951
From Slaggan, go through the gate and take the path that passes right of the solitary gable ends and heads towards the beach. Where it branches, take the path that heads north along the top of the grassy cliffs, passing through another gate, until a rocky headland is reached, continue to the wooden cross and rusty metal supports. Continue on, passing the geo of Atlantic Avenue, until near the outflow of a lochan that sits just next to the rocky coast. Descend slabs before the burn is met and head for a distinctive hook of rock. The crag sits on a terrace well above sea level and the features of the topo below will not be seen until the arete of Birthday Hangover is passed. 20 mins from parking at Slaggan.
