Inverness is a good place for basing yourself and making trips to the Torridon Sandstone(1hour 40mins), Gairloch Gniess (1hour 30mins), Glen Nevis, Ben Nevis (2 hours) and Cairngorms (40mins). It also has a selection of climbing close by if time is limited or the weather gets bad...

  • Mac Mountaineering, Church Street


Climber friendly cafes, pubs, restaurants and clubs

  • Pubs: Hootenanny, Blackfriars, Johnny Foxes
  • Cafes: Girvans is quite nice
  • Restaurants: Rajah for curry, on Post Office Avenue
  • Clubs: If you must, head to Love. Watch out though, there's a curfew in place, so you won't get in anywhere after midnight!
  • Camping: Big campsite at bught park
  • Don't Miss: The Ness Islands, The 'Nessie' flume at the Aquadome (same building as the climbing wall) and Loch Ness.
