Dumbarton guide front cover.

Dumbarton Rock and its sister rock Dumbuck are the twin stars of central Scotland’s bouldering and sport climbing. This guide is the most complete to date and includes over 300 problems and routes for the two venues. ‘Dumby’ is a mecca for the modern climber and Stewart Brown has provided an enormous and detailed tick list, with subtle and accurate beta provided in his text, as well as completely revised descriptions and grades based on dedicated repeats and consensus. He has included all sport climbs, boulder problems and the best eliminates, reviving many old forgotten problems and detailing all the complex new link-ups.

The book is produced by Stone Country and is a gloss-covered, 80 page colour paperback priced at £6.99. Topos, maps and photographs illustrate the text throughout and feature photography is provided by Jonathan Bean, Tim Morozzo and John Watson. The guide should provide ‘the final tick-list’ for the circuit boulderer, testpiece cranker and sport climber. The best of the traditional climbing is also included, as is an introductory history to climbing at ‘The Rock’.

The book is available from www.stonecountry.blogspot.com or www.stonecountry.co.uk.
