The Hermit
From ScottishClimbs
A great roadside mini crag about 12m high. There are 2 excellent solos up the steep wall and arete. Topropes are easy to set up, 3 cams between 1/2 inch and 11/2 inch. An excellent venue for a quick evening climb.
Rocktype: Dolerite
Directions & Approach
The routes are on a small outcrop opposite Olas' farm at Husabost in NW Skye. From Dunvegan go west on the Glendale road, about 4 miles along, past the 3 chimneys restaurant, take a right off the road towards Galtrigil. Maybe a mile along this, you drop down a steep hill into a valley with fields of trees and cows, the crag is up on the hill in the trees, park in the little passing place and and try not to upset the cows.

The Hermit E2 5b 12m***
James Sutton, Leighton Jones. May 2004
The original route up the centre of the steep face, following cracks and blocky holds, so good youll have to do it again. Its about br 5b, with a bouldery start and a long reach at the end (to jugs)
Old Man Cows E3 5c 12m ***

about E3/4 5c, this is a bit more bold but just as fantastic. This climbs the arete mainly on the right side. Some technical moves at the start to get you standing on the ledge hold on the arete, then theres a worrying bit as the top handholds that look so good from the ground turn out to be small and slopey. Get up to the undercling block right on the arete and 2 slopers on the lip, then jugs to pull over on. Great climbing
