So it's all going on in the world of indoor climbing in Scotland eh?

In addition to thoughts of a new wall in the south of Scotland (see South of Scotland Wall Survey), there's even more of the things

New Edinburgh Uni wall

Another wall in Edinburgh?

The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Sport & Exercises new wall is currently under construction, due to finish mid-late march.

The new climbing wall, named the Tower , is 8 metres high with 25 individual route corridors. All lines are fully equipped with double bolt belays and running belay systems for roped climbing. These features will provide a very effective and realistic climbing experience.
The bouldering room, named the Rock , incorporates a 135m2 climbing surface. It reflects the contemporary feel of current indoor bouldering with the emphasis on continuous route setting potential with bolt holds and macro features and a strong use of geometrical planes.

Members of the public can join the centre, and if you are Alumni, staff or spouse of staff then its cheaper.

New Comp wall at Ratho

OK so this isn't new news, but it fits with the round up...

The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena aka Ratho have secured funding to build a new international competition wall. It seems the old(ish) one wasn't quite steep enough. The contract for the wall has been awared to Entre-Prises and work is due to begin late spring 2008. Apparently its going to be articulated, and go right over to 90 degrees....
